On October 17, 2014, the Military Spouse JD Network (MSJDN) will host Making the Right Moves: Leadership and Development for Military Spouse Attorneys. The event, organized by MSJDN with platinum sponsorship from the Center for the Study of Women in the Military at Thomas Jefferson School of Law, features a full day of educational opportunities for military spouse attorneys. A networking luncheon will celebrate the service of military spouses while also providing a forum for making connections with the San Diego legal and business communities.

The day will include input from insiders on making the opening pitch, building a career plan, connecting with the local community, and more. A panel exploring the American Bar Association’s Grit Project will delve into the science behind the grit and growth mindset. Political experts will explore Homefront Rising, a joint initiative of MSJDN and In Gear Career encouraging military spouses to pursue positions of influence in government. Making the Right Moves 2014 will be a full day of education and development for military spouse attorneys.

“It’s our goal to support military spouses who are working to make the military lifestyle compatible with a successful legal career,” said MSJDN President Rachel Winkler. “Making the Right Moves offers expert strategies for professional development and meaningful networking opportunities beneficial to military spouse attorneys at every stage of their career.”

The Military Spouse JD Network was founded by two military spouses in 2011 and has grown to over 700 members across the globe. Unemployment for military spouses regularly outpaces the national average and military spouse attorneys face additional barriers due to the unique licensing requirements of state bar associations. MSJDN works to remove these barriers and to connect military spouse attorneys through events like Making the Right Moves and various other programs. For more information, please visit www.msjdn.org.
